Trent Works - Three storey homes to live and work
Felton Road with three outdoor spaces
Reflecting on the character of the Old Meadows and its distinctive mix of Victorian industrial and residential buildings, Trent Works is a new development that we’ve described as ‘modern Victorian’. As of June this year the Old Meadows is now a conservation area recognised for its Victorian and early twentieth century buildings. This means the architectural heritage of the area is protected and special consideration is given to all future developments, which is great news for anyone considering a home at Meadows Green.
The design of Trent Works honours the Old Meadows new status in a thoroughly modern way while respecting the heritage of the location. When we began designing Meadows Green we recognised that many of the best aspects of Victorian houses were almost never designed into modern housing. We also recognised the shortcomings in Victorian housing and considered how they could be improved for a modern lifestyle.

Three storey homes for a modern lifestyle
On Felton Road and Wilford Crescent East we’ve revived the much loved Victorian three storey townhouse concept. By building three storeys we’re providing a much more spacious home for the size of the plot in comparison to the two story homes offered by many mass house builders. Three storey houses are popular with families with children and teenagers as the additional floor provides the extra space that a family needs. The extra floor makes for a good distraction free space if you need a home office or if you have noisy teenagers (or partner) that you want out of the way!
Our Felton Road houses include a ground floor veranda and second floor terrace - a rare feature for any three storey townhouse. With the garden included, there are three outdoor spaces in which you can enjoy the summer months. Have a morning coffee in your dressing gown on the second floor terrace, enjoy an ‘al fresco’ lunch on the ground floor terrace, and then do some trampolining (or not) in the back garden.
All homes at Trent Works have large Velfac windows and come with patio doors so the houses are light and airy. Felton Road and Wilford Crescent East are also elevated and set back from the street which provides more privacy. Getting the external details of the house designs right is crucial for creating homes that compliment the area’s existing housing without being a poor imitation.
We have specified a high quality red brick with a mottled surface as the main brick throughout Trent Works. A contrasting silver grey brick is used as an attractive design feature on the apartments on Felton Road and the houses Mesham Road and Wilford Crescent East. Contrasting brick details are a common feature of Victorian industrial buildings so this will be a stylish and modern interpretation of this idea.
Whether you are looking for an apartment or house, Trent Works offers a range of thoroughly modern homes inspired by the very best design principles of the Victorian period.
